The Perfect Matcha Latte Recipe

How nice to matcha! (Get it, meetcha – matcha?)

All puns aside, matcha green tea is the best. It’s the perfect combination of earthy and sweet in a creamy, full-bodied tea. Matcha is packed with antioxidants and comes in a powdered form, which means it’s super easy to add to anything.

For the longest time I’ve tried to recreate the amazing matcha lattes I’ve had at plenty of cafes. I always wondered how they did it – but no matter what I did it always seemed like my lattes were clumpy and, well, nothing like the drinks I’ve had in the past.

I’m going to share with you my biggest tip for creating the perfect matcha latte – it’s so simple but it works! You’ll have the perfect drink before you know it.

The Perfect Matcha Latte

Servings 1 latte


  • 1 cup non-dairy milk of choice
  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 tsp sweetener of choice


  1. Add about 1/4 cup of non-dairy milk into your cup and sift in matcha. Whisk in a zigzag motion until well-combined. Some clumps are okay at this point, but try your best to minimize them. This is the most important part!

  2. Add in the rest of the milk and heat over a stove or in a microwave if desired.

  3. Add your sweetener of choice. Any sweetener will work, but if you are making an iced latte and didn't heat your tea, I recommend agave or maple syrup.

  4. If you are making an iced latte, serve over ice! Otherwise, enjoy hot. Both are delicious.
