Say hello to my newest cafe obsession – the Parakeet Cafe in La Jolla, CA! It is such a cute space and I love their menu, especially their huge selection of drinks. Their decor is adorable and features lots of parakeets and pink, which I don’t think you can ever have enough of.
The Parakeet Cafe has an amazing selection of drinks! Just a few of their drinks include a honey cinnamon latte, turmeric latte, matcha latte, flat black, and more. They have plenty of organic tea options and even adaptogenic drinks!
Personally, I’ve tried their turmeric latte and matcha latte. Their matcha latte wasn’t sweet enough for me, but the turmeric latte was perfect and so good. It’s what got me into making turmeric lattes in the first place!
Let’s talk about the food, shall we?
There are so many options to choose from here! I love how vegan and vegetarian-friendly this place is, as well as how unique all of the dishes are.
In this picture you can see a matcha latte, vanilla latte, overnight oats, and the cacao waffle. Aren’t they colorful?
The overnight oats consisted of soaked oats (duh!), chia seeds, fruit preserves, flaxseed, nuts, and lots of fresh fruit. It was the perfect light breakfast – so fresh and clean. If you’re super hungry though I’d maybe order one of their amazing pastries on the side.
The cacao waffle was topped with fresh berries, banana “nice” cream, a coconut yogurt drizzle, and cacao nibs. The waffle itself was a little underwhelming – we wished there was more chocolate flavor! But we loved the toppings, especially the banana “nice” cream which was super sweet and delicious.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. It’s a little small so be prepared to get close with the other people at the cafe! The drinks alone are worth going for, from the flat black to the millennial pink beet latte. They’re all super good and fun to try.
